Schneider Calls for Criminal Investigation of Postmaster General DeJoy

Alongside Members from the Illinois Delegation at the Chicago U.S. Postal Service, Schneider Fights for Mail

CHICAGO – Today, Congressmen Brad Schneider (IL-10) joined with several Members of the Illinois Delegation to the U.S. House of Representatives at the United States Postal Services (USPS) office in downtown Chicago to fight back against sabotage from the Trump Administration.

Schneider announced that he, Rep. Mike Quigley, and other Members of the delegation would be writing to Illinois Attorney General Kwame Raoul, requesting that a criminal investigation of Postmaster General Louis DeJoy be initiated for interfering with an Illinois State election.

Later this weekend, the House will return to session to vote on Oversight and Reform Committee Chairwoman Maloney's ‘Delivering for America Act,' which prohibits the Postal Service from implementing any changes to operations or level of service it had in place on January 1, 2020.

"Because of the processes put in place by Postmaster General DeJoy that he has implemented since his appointment on May 6th, our seniors have begun receiving their prescription drugs late and our businesses are getting fined because the bills they are paying through the mail are arriving late. Yesterday alone, 600 people have reached out to my office to tell me how their mail has been adversely affected by DeJoy and President Trump, who opposes funding the Postal Service to stymie mail in voting for the upcoming election," said Schneider. "It is a crime to willfully delay the mail. That's why I and other Members are writing to AG Raoul requesting a criminal investigation of DeJoy for his willful delay of the mail."
