Rep. Schneider Announces “Brad’s Bookworms” Reading Program for Elementary Students

August 18, 2017

Program encourages students to read 20 books with help of family by end of year

As Back to School season approaches, Congressman Brad Schneider (IL-10) today announced the launch of "Brad's Bookworms," a program to encourage reading and learning for elementary-age students and their families.

Children participating in the program are asked to read 20 books with help from parents, grandparents, older siblings, or other family members between September 1 and December 31, 2017, and track their progress toward this goal. Young people who meet the 20 book goal will be invited with their families to a recognition ceremony with Congressman Schneider in Spring 2018 to celebrate their achievement.

Students are also invited to take part in a contest to design a bookmark, and copies of the winning bookmark will be distributed to all children who complete the 20 book goal.

More information about the Brad's Bookworms program, including links to the reading log sheet, bookmark contest template, and parent permission slip is available on Congressman Schneider's website.
