Rep. Schneider Celebrates One Year Anniversary of the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law, Delivering for Infrastructure Improvements Across Illinois
WASHINGTON – Today, Congressman Schneider celebrated the first anniversary of the landmark bipartisan Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act, which in 2022 has delivered over $60M in federal funds for highway and bridge projects that create well-paying jobs and transform infrastructure in the Illinois 10th district.
“The bipartisan Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act is upgrading the way Americans travel and do business,” said Congressman Schneider. “After decades of neglecting our roads, bridges, water, public transportation, and other critical infrastructure, the Infrastructure Law is transforming our communities into cleaner, healthier, and more efficient places to live. I am proud that, in the Infrastructure Law’s first year, my district alone has seen more than $60 million in road, highway, and bridge project funding.”
Decadesof underinvestment have left Illinois communities in need of repair andmodernization. The American Society of Civil Engineers gave Illinoisinfrastructure anoverall grade of [C] —including a C for its bridges, a D+ for its transit, and a D+ for its drinkingwater.
TheInfrastructure Law is already making progress in tenth-district communities,delivering federal funds for a range of vital projects, including:
- $3.35M to Resurface Grand Avenue in Waukegan
- $2.28M to Washington Street Bridge Improvement in Gurnee
- $5.03M to Resurface, Improve Traffic Flow and Upgrade Clavey Road in Highland Park
- $3.35M to Resurface IL 137 in North Chicago
Accordingto the AmericanRoad & Transpiration Builders Association, in FY 2022, Illinois’ Tenth Congressional District received $60.36 million in IIJA commitments.
