Rep. Schneider on Russian Court Extending Pretrial Detention for WSJ Reporter Evan Gershkovich

WASHINGTON, DC – Today, Rep. Brad Schneider (IL-10) released the following statement on Russia’s continued detention of Wall Street Journal reporter Evan Gershkovich. At this point, Evan has been held in Russia for nearly a year. 

“It is outrageous that a Russian court has extended the arbitrary detention of Wall Street Journal reporter Evan Gershkovich. Despite the legal charade, the world can clearly see that he is Putin’s hostage. 

“I will continue to fight for Evan’s release and am grateful to President Biden and Secretary Blinken for doing everything they can to bring him home.”
