October 2, 2023

WASHINGTON – Congressman Brad Schneider (IL-10), Co-Chair of the Congressional Family Business Caucus, met in September with family businesses from IL-10 and across the country to discuss and bring awareness to the challenges and opportunities faced by generational owned family businesses.

Representatives Brad Schneider (IL-10), Jodey Arrington (TX-19), Henry Cuellar (TX-28), and Claudia Tenney (NY-22) lead the bipartisan caucus to educate Members of Congress and foster awareness in Congress about the issues impacting family businesses—large and small, from every corner of the U.S. economy. 87% of American businesses are family-owned, and they make up 64% of the U.S. GDP.

“As lawmakers, it’s crucial to understand the role family businesses play in our communities and economy to make informed decisions that support their success. The stories business owners shared with me highlight the spirit and dedication of family businesses, making them the pillars of the American economy and their communities,” said Congressman Brad Schneider. I continue to stand firmly with my colleagues in championing these businesses, which will provide economic growth and opportunity for generations to come.”

The September 20th roundtable on Capitol Hill was the third fly-in hosted by the Congressional Family Business Caucus. The caucus will continue regularly meeting and connect Members of Congress with America’s family businesses in Washington, D.C., and their districts and home states. Caucus membership is open to all Members of Congress seeking to learn more about generational owned family businesses.
