Schneider Announces 2020 Congressional Art Competition Winners

June 12, 2020

Student artists from Waukegan High School and Warren Township High School take top prizes

Today, Congressman Brad Schneider (IL-10) announced the winners of the annual Congressional Art Competition in Illinois's Tenth District. This year, local high school students submitted artwork virtually on the theme of "E Pluribus Unum," or "Out of many, one."

Two experienced art professionals—Amy Amdur, founder of Amdur Productions and Ann Rintz, Curator of Robert T. Wright Community Gallery of Art at the College of Lake County - judged the entries anonymously, without seeing artists' names or schools.

The first place entry will be displayed in the U.S. Capitol for the next year, along with winning works from every district in the county. The second place entry will be displayed in Congressman Schneider's district office in Lincolnshire, and the third place entry will be in his DC office.

An album of all 2020 student submissions is available on Congressman Schneider's Facebook page.

Janette Martinez-Tolentino of Waukegan High School earned first place for her piece titled "Stronger Together."
