SCHNEIDER ANNOUNCES 36 NEW STEAM SCHOLARS

December 5, 2024

ABBOTT PARK, IL – Congressman Brad Schneider (IL-10) proudly welcomed 36 local high school students as STEAM Scholars for the 2024-2025 school year. The 36 students represent 14 different high schools across the 10th congressional district. To kick off the STEAM Scholar Program, the students joined Rep. Schneider at Abbott Laboratories for a wide-ranging conversation with several of the company’s scientists and a tour of a virology lab.

“I’m thrilled to announce 36 new STEAM Scholars who, over the next few months, will have a valuable opportunity to meet with some of Lake, Cook and McHenry counties’ technology leaders to explore different professional paths they might want to pursue after high school,” said Schneider. “The 10th district is home to many world class industries and institutions that offer exceptional career opportunities. Our first stop at Abbott Laboratories gave students a chance to see scientists working in the virology lab researching infectious diseases and hear how they are working to prevent the next pandemic.”
