March 7, 2023

Schneider will serve as only Democrat Waived Onto Committee

WASHINGTON – Today, the Democratic House Steering and Policy Committee named Congressman Brad Schneider (IL-10) to the House Foreign Affairs Committee for the 118th Congress. Schneider is the only Democrat waived onto the committee this Congress.  This will be Schneider’s fourth term on the Committee, previously serving on the Committee during the  113th, 115th and 117th Congresses. Schneider’s appointment to the Foreign Affairs Committee is in addition to his service on the House Ways and Means Committee.

Schneider released the following statement:

“I am deeply honored to continue to serve on the Foreign Affairs Committee, where I will continue to be focused on promoting smart American foreign policy that builds upon our alliances, strengthens us relative to our adversaries and promotes the interests of the United States throughout the world. I expect to continue my work promoting peace and stability in the Middle East and, importantly, working to ensure Iran never succeeds in acquiring a nuclear weapon.

“I want to thank House leadership and in particular Minority Leader Jeffries and the Steering and Policy Committee for supporting me and enabling me to serve on both committees. I also want to thank Ranking Member Meeks for again welcoming me onto his committee. I'm ready to get to work."
