Schneider, Co-Chairs in House Abraham Accords Caucus Commemorate 3-Year Anniversary of Historic Abraham Accords Signing
WASHINGTON – Abraham Accords Caucus Co-Chairs Brad Schneider (IL-10), Cathy McMorris Rodgers (WA-05), David Trone (MD-06), and Ann Wagner (MO-02) introduced a resolution commemorating the third anniversary of the signing of the Abraham Accords. H.Res. 701 highlights the progress made since the signing of the Accords and encourages further deepening and broadening of the Accords and expansion to new countries.
To mark the third anniversary, Congressman Schneider co-hosted a delegation of young leaders from Bahrain, the United Arab Emirates (UAE), Morocco, and Israel – with support from the American Jewish Committee and ISRAEL-is. He also joined the Atlantic Council and Jeffrey M. Talpins Foundation to host a discussion on regional developments and opportunities between Israel and Arab and Muslim countries featuring government officials and representatives from across civil society.
"The Abraham Accords have reshaped relations in the Middle East, forging bonds between Israel, the UAE, Bahrain, and Morocco. These historic agreements marked a shift towards peace and prosperity," said Congressman Schneider. "I am proud that we marked the third anniversary with so many representatives from Abraham Accords countries, from young leaders to ambassadors, and with leaders from across government and civil society. We remain unwavering in our dedication to deepening and broadening the Accords, building bridges, and creating opportunities for peace that will resonate around the world."
On September 15, 2020, the United States brought together leaders from Israel, the UAE, and Bahrain to sign the historic Abraham Accords. On December 22, 2020, Morocco signed the Abraham Accords, followed by Sudan on January 6, 2021. These normalization agreements transformed the region, enhanced Israel's security, created economic opportunities, and advanced vital U.S. national security interests.
“Three years ago, the United States made historic progress towards achieving peace in the Middle East with the signing of the Abraham Accords Declaration," said Congresswoman Rodgers. “This long sought-after agreement marked the beginning of a new journey together in pursuit of creating a better, safer, and more prosperous world for our children and grandchildren. It is an honor to join my co-chairs of the Abraham Accords Caucus in introducing this resolution to celebrate its anniversary and reaffirm our commitment to go above and beyond to make this world a place where all can enjoy a life of dignity and hope.”
"Three years ago, the Abraham Accords were signed to strengthen peace in the Middle East and beyond. Since their creation, the Accords have helped enhance security, create more economic opportunity, and improve diplomacy throughout the region," said Congressman Trone. "This historic agreement highlights the importance of global cooperation and the great strides we can make across the world by working together. As a proud co-chair of the Abraham Accords Caucus, I look forward to continue working with our partners in the Middle East to find common ground and promote interfaith cooperation."
“In just three years, the Abraham Accords have had life-changing benefits for Arab and Israeli citizens, unleashing pent-up economic potential and bringing real quality of life improvements. At a time of heightened anti-Semitism across the globe and increased Iranian aggression, it is more important than ever that we stand shoulder-to-shoulder with our Abraham Accords partners and identify opportunities to grow and strengthen these agreements to ensure greater stability and peace in the Middle East. Trade and tourism have also grown, and the Accords are enabling signatory countries to break out of the cycle of dysfunction and violence and work together for the advancement of regional priorities,” said Congresswoman Wagner.
The Abraham Accord Caucus was launched in 2022 by Schneider, Rodgers, Trone, and Wagner, along with a bipartisan group of Senators, to provide an opportunity for Members of Congress to help strengthen the agreements of current Abraham Accords countries and help lay the groundwork to expand to new countries that do not currently have diplomatic relations with Israel.

On Wednesday, September 13th, Caucus members, along with the American Jewish Committee and ISRAEL-Is, a non-governmental organization that connects young leaders from Abraham Accords countries, welcomed young leaders from Abraham Accords countries for a roundtable discussion on building bridges between peoples and countries to create opportunities for peace.

Also on Wednesday, Congressman Schneider gave opening remarks and joined a panel on the regional impact and future of the Abraham Accords with Israeli Ambassador Michael Herzog. The Atlantic Council and the Jeffrey M. Talpins Foundation organized the event.
