Schneider Donates Frequent Flyer Miles to Help Wounded Service Members and Military Families

December 21, 2017

More than 82,000 miles donated by Schneider to Fisher House Foundation Hero Miles Program

Today, U.S. Representative was pleased to donate the frequent flyer miles he earned through his congressional travel to the Hero Miles program administered by the Fisher House Foundation. This program provides round-trip airline tickets to wounded, injured, and ill service members and/or their families who are undergoing treatment at a military or VA medical center.

This year, Rep. Schneider donated more than 82,000 miles earned on 65 trips between Illinois's Tenth District and Washington, DC.

"The Fisher House Foundation and Hero Miles program plays an important role supporting our injured service members and their families," said Schneider. "Easing the burden of travel during a difficult time to connect the men and women in our armed forces with their loved ones is the least we can do for those who serve us every day. This holiday season, I'm proud to support the Fisher House's work with the airline miles accrued during my official travel in 2017."

The Fisher House Foundation helps both wounded, injured, and ill service members on approved leave travel to their homes, as well as families visit their loved ones in the armed forces while they are undergoing treatment at an authorized medical center. Partner airlines include: Alaska Airlines, American Airlines, Delta Air Lines, Frontier Airlines, and United Airlines.
