Schneider Earns Perfect Environmental Record Score from League of Conservation Voters
Schneider continues to fight against existential threat of climate change
WASHINGTON – Congressman Brad Schneider (IL-10) received a 100% score from the League of Conservation Voters' 2020 National Environmental Scorecard, based on 21 key congressional votes from the past calendar year to help keep our air and water clean, promote the creation of good-paying clean energy jobs, combat increasing pollution and emissions, improving our transportation and infrastructure, and protecting wildlife and open spaces.
"Climate change poses an existential threat to our way of life, and we are already seeing its impact in our communities," said Congressman Brad Schneider (IL-10). "I am proud to receive recognition from the League of Conservation Voters for my voting record in Congress and for my efforts to promote green infrastructure and mitigate the effects of climate change. Protecting our environment, infrastructure and public health are priorities that require urgent action now."
LCV has published a National Environmental Scorecard every Congress since 1970. The Scorecard is the primary yardstick for evaluating the environmental records of every member of Congress. The Scorecard represents the consensus of experts from more than 20 respected environmental and conservation organizations who selected the key votes on which members of Congress should be scored.
LCV scores votes on the most important issues of the year, including energy, climate change, environmental justice, public health, public lands and wildlife conservation, democracy, and spending for environmental programs. The votes included in the Scorecard presented members of Congress with a real choice and helped distinguish which legislators are working for environmental protection.
