Schneider also one of “Most Bipartisan House Freshmen” says new report analyzing first year of 115th Congress

Congressman Brad Schneider (IL-10) is the Most Active Freshman among House Democrats says a new report by Quorum Analytics reviewing the first year of the 115th Congress.

Schneider leads other Freshman Democrats, having introduced 17 bills since taking office in January 2017.

The report also highlights Schneider's work reaching across the aisle. According to Quorum, 42 percent of legislation co-sponsored by Schneider originated with a member of the opposite party, ranking him the third Most Bipartisan House Freshman.

There are 52 members of the 115th Congress freshman class (25 Democrats and 27 Republicans).

Background:

Among the bipartisan legislation introduced by Schneider in 2017:

  • GI Internship Program Act – introduced with Rep. Ted Yoho (R-FL), would expand post-9/11 GI Bill benefits to include internship opportunities.
  • Senior Citizen Protection Act – introduced with Rep. Ileana Ros-Lehtinen (R-FL), would create national registry of elder abusers that accredited health care providers and the public could check before hiring employees who will work with seniors.
  • Defending Israel's QME Act – introduced with Rep. Claudia Tenney (R-NY), would strengthen the processes that ensures Israel's qualitative military edge (QME) over regional adversaries.
  • Small Business Cybersecurity Enhancement Act – introduced with Rep. Brian Fitzpatrick (R-PA), would create a loan guarantee program to help small businesses to acquire cybersecurity technology and services.

Schneider is a member of several groups dedicated to working across the aisle, including the Problem Solvers Caucus, which includes 24 Democrats and 24 Republicans, and the Bipartisan Working Group which meets weekly.
