Schneider Statement on President Biden’s Address to a Joint Session of Congress
DEERFIELD, IL – Today, Congressman Schneider released the following statement:
“Tonight’s speech was a bold, aspiring vision for America's future. We heard a speech from the President focused on getting America on the move again, in the lead again, back again... to stay. President Biden took office following the worst domestic attack on our democracy since the civil war. He assumed power in the midst of the worst health and economic crises in our lifetimes.
“Rising to the challenge, in his first 100 days, he's passed the American Rescue Plan, delivered 220 million shots into people's arms, and is now focused on returning American jobs, supporting American families, and guaranteeing that America wins the 21st century:
“With expanded education opportunities with universal pre-K. Investment in climate jobs and affordable child care. Growing the economy from the middle, out. Eliminating ghost guns. Protecting women, LGBTQ, and minorities. Fighting for dreamers and the right to vote, and against white supremacist domestic terrorists.
“These are all policies that Americans want and need to build back better. I am thankful for this new, calmer, stronger path for America in President Biden’s first 100 days.”
