Schneider Town Hall: Round Lake Beach Discusses Ukraine, Economy

March 26, 2022

ROUND LAKE BEACH, Ill. – Congressman Brad Schneider (IL-10) discussed the ongoing situation in Ukraine and what Congress is doing to fight the costs of inflation with constituents at his "Congress On Your Corner" town hall in Round Lake Beach on Saturday, which over 125 constituents attended.

"I was grateful to hear from constituents in Round Lake Beach on Saturday about their thoughts on the situation in Ukraine and the economy. In Congress, I am working to support Ukraine by ensuring that refugees can come to the United States with ease, impose economic sanctions on Russia and send humanitarian aid to Ukraine. I am also working with my colleagues to keep the country on a path of record-breaking economic growth, while addressing rising inflation by fixing our supply chain and investing in American competitiveness," Schneider said.

This was Schneider's seventh in-person town hall since the pandemic began and his first in-person town hall since COVID.

Schneider recently joined a bipartisan group of colleagues urging the Biden administration to prioritize welcoming more Ukrainian refugees into the United States, which the President announced he would do last week by admitting 100,000 Ukrainians into the country. Schneider also voted to approve $13.6 billion in humanitarian, military and economic support, as well as banning imports of Russian oil. Schneider voted to revoke Russia's permanent normal trade relations with the U.S.

Schneider also recently voted to pass the America COMPETES Act to help tackle inflation and address supply chain problems.
