Schneider, Underwood Host Discussion with Lake County Health Department on Racial Health Disparities During the COVID-19 Pandemic

May 8, 2020

On Friday, May 8, 2020 at 2:15pm CT, U.S. Representatives Brad Schneider (IL-10) and Lauren Underwood (IL-14) will host a conversation with the Lake County Health Department to discuss racial health disparities during the COVID-19 pandemic.

This event follows recent reports showing the pandemic is disproportionately affecting communities of color. In Illinois, African Americans are less than 15 percent of the state's population, yet account for more than a third of deaths from coronavirus. Earlier this week, Gov. Pritzker announced Latinos in Illinois have the highest proportion of cases of any ethnic group in the state.

Schneider and Underwood will share what resources are available to help local communities, and update viewers on action Congress is taking to try to address the problem.

The conversation will be livestreamed on Facebook.
