SCHNEIDER VOTES NO ON GOP BUDGET
WASHINGTON – Rep. Brad Schneider (IL-10), Chair of the New Democrat Coalition and a member of the House Ways and Means and Foreign Affairs Committees, released the following statement on the House vote on the GOP Budget Resolution. Schneider joined every Democrat in voting no on the resolution.
“217 Republicans just voted for the largest Medicaid cut in US history. These Republicans voted to tear support away from kids, seniors, and people with disabilities. They voted to make food assistance harder to access for hungry families and cut vital support for our nation’s farmers.
I was proud to join every House Democrat in rejecting this morally bankrupt budget. Distinct from the Republican plan to give billionaires like Elon Musk a free ride on the backs of hard-working Americans, Democrats’ priorities are lowering costs for families, giving more people access to affordable healthcare, and other actions to improve lives and strengthen communities.
The American people want Congress to take concrete steps to make their lives at least a little bit easier -- but this Republican budget will do exactly the opposite.
I stand behind our Democratic Leader, Hakeem Jeffries, in calling out the gross consequences of this disgraceful Republican budget that will leave MY constituents without the care and support they need.
Your families, neighbors and community deserve more.”
