Congressman Brad Schneider

Representing the 10th District of Illinois

Statement on Attorney General Confirmation

February 9, 2017
Press Release

Today, Congressman Brad Schneider (IL-10), a member of the House Judiciary Committee, released the following statement regarding the Senate confirmation of Sen. Jeff Session as U.S. Attorney General.

“I’m deeply concerned by the confirmation of Sen. Jeff Sessions as the next U.S. Attorney General.

“The American people deserve an Attorney General who will protect and advance civil rights, LGBT equality, and voting rights. Throughout his career, Sessions has demonstrated the reverse - a fierce opposition to the very laws he will be responsible for defending and upholding as our nation’s top law enforcement officer.

“I am committed to protecting our progress toward equality, and intend to closely monitor the actions of the Department of Justice with my colleagues on the House Judiciary Committee.”
