Dear Friends,

I hope all in the Tenth District who celebrated Passover and Easter this weekend had a meaningful holiday. I hope the time spent with family and friends at the beginning of Spring energizes us all and brings our communities closer together.

Looking forward with this week's newsleter, I'm very excited about three public events we have planned over the next few weeks. I hope you'll join me at one, or all, of them.

  • On Wednesday, April 4 in Wheeling, I'm hosting students and parents for an information session on the application and nomination process for the U.S. Military Service Academies.
  • This Saturday, April 7, I'll be in Libertyville for our next "Congress on Your Corner" town hall.
  • The following Saturday, April 14, I'm hosting what we are calling the E3 Summit at the Chicago Botanic Garden. This program will be a series of discussions about the future of the economy, environment, and education with a great line-up of local thought leaders on each panel. It's sure to be an interesting and enlightening conversation!

This April, our Lincolnshire Office is a community drop-off location during the Help USA Troops collection drive. Help USA Troops is an Arlington Heights–based non-profit that ships boxes of care and comfort items to service members deployed around the world.

Constituents may drop-off items for care packages to American servicemembers until Tuesday, April 24, 2018.

The office is located at 111 Barclay Blvd, Suite 200, Lincolnshire, IL 60069, and open Monday through Friday from 9:00am to 5:00pm.

Suggested items for donation include personal hygiene products, pocket-sized food and snacks (non-perishable), candy and gum, pocket-sized powdered drinks, cards and letters, and more. A more detailed list of suggestions is available on the Help USA Troops website.

NEIGHBORHOOD OFFICE HOURS

Our office hosts frequent Neighborhood Office Hours for constituents to more easily meet with caseworkers and staff to discuss any federal issues that they may have and learn more about services our office can provide. We're here to help if you have issues with Medicare, Social Security, the Veterans Administration, immigration and more.

This week, we'll be in North Chicago, Waukegan, and Northbrook. Check out the full schedule on our website and come meet with us when we're in your community!

WEEKLY WRAP-UP

Last Fall, I challenged area elementary students to read 20 books by Spring, and these young people went above and beyond. It was great hearing about their favorite books and sharing some of mine with them too. We'll be continuing Brad's Bookworms again this year– stay tuned for updates and how to participate!

It was a busy spring break week in our DC office! More than 200 constituents stopped by for a tour of the Capitol last week - here are just a few of the groups. If you are planning a trip to our nation's capital this year, we'd love to show you around. Get in touch at (202)225-4835.

Did you know bleeding is the most common preventable cause of death in trauma situations? Last week, my team and I were trained on how to stop bleeding in an emergency as part of National Stop the Bleed Day. You can learn more online at https://www.stopthebleedday.org/\
