Rep. Schneider Invites Students to Participate in 2017 Congressional Art Competition
Today, Congressman Brad Schneider announced the launch of the Tenth District’s 2017 Congressional Art Competition.
Local high school students are encouraged to submit outstanding pieces of art they have created in the past year, which will be judged by a panel of local educators and artists.
“The schools in our district are full of fantastically creative students and strong visual arts programs that nurture their talent,” said Schneider. “I look forward to seeing the artwork our young people create, and am proud to help highlight the skill and imagination of local students with this contest.”
The winning submission will be exhibited in the U.S. Capitol for a year. The second and third place pieces will be displayed in the Congressman’s District and Washington D.C. offices, respectively.
The first prize winner will also receive two round-trip airline tickets courtesy of Southwest Airlines to Washington, DC and have the opportunity to attend the Congressional Art Competition award ceremony. At that ceremony, our district’s winner will see their winning artwork hung in the Capitol, and be joined by other first prize entries from the other 434 Congressional Districts.
The deadline for submissions to the competition is April 12, 2017.
Additional information, including important guidelines for submissions, is available on Congressman Schneider’s website.
