ZION, Ill. – On Tuesday, Congressman Brad Schneider (IL-10) discussed COVID relief and the importance of local infrastructure investment with constituents at his "Congress On Your Corner" in Zion, Schneider's first in-person town hall since the pandemic began. During the town hall, Schneider highlighted the impact of the American Rescue Plan on the Zion community and discussed his community project requests to fund infrastructure projects in Zion. Video of Schneider's opening remarks can be downloaded here.

Constituents can find future Congress on Your Corner town hall dates at Schneider's Eventbrite page.

"People don't always realize that what's at stake in the halls of Congress actually has an impact on communities like Zion. I was grateful to hear from constituents today in person so I could hear firsthand what they experienced during the pandemic and how I can continue to deliver for them. When I get back to Washington, I will continue to build on the success of the American Rescue Plan and also work to pass the federal infrastructure investment that our communities like Zion so desperately need," said Schneider.

In March, Schneider helped pass The American Rescue Plan included, which included $3.19 million in direct assistance to Zion and $136 million total in assistance to Lake County.

Schneider helped secure House passage for two community infrastructure projects in Zion. The INVEST in America Act funded the Zion 27th Street Resurfacing Project to resurface ten blocks of a major Zion thoroughfare, including improvements to upgrade the public sidewalk, ADA ramps and crosswalks. Schneider also helped secure funding for the Zion Stormwater Project, which would help alleviate ongoing flooding at the Shiloh Park Senior Center, as part of the Appropriations fiscal Year 2022 Homeland Security Funding Bill.
