Today, Congressman Brad Schneider (IL-10) announced the launch of the 2020-2021 Tenth District STEM Scholars program, an educational opportunity for local high school students to learn about science, technology, education, and math through hands-on learning experiences. This will be the third class of STEM Scholars following the inaugural 2018-2019 class.

Today, during Pride Month 2020, Congressman Brad Schneider (IL-10) re-introduced legislation to ensure critical LGBTQ resources are not blocked at public schools and libraries.

Currently, public schools and libraries that receive discounted telecommunications and internet rates through the Federal Communication Commission (FCC) E-Rate program must enforce an internet safety policy that in some cases leads to the blocking of useful LGBTQ resources.

Next week, Congressman Brad Schneider (IL-10) will host two events focused on small businesses adapting to the challenges of the Covid-19 pandemic.

On Thursday, July 9, 2020 at 4:00pm CT, Schneider will host a webinar on loan forgiveness requirements for the Paycheck Protection Program (PPP) and associated tax implications for recipient businesses and organizations. He will be joined by guests from the US Small Business Administration (SBA) and CPA accountants from American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (AICPA) to help answer constituent questions.

Yesterday, Congressman Brad Schneider (IL-10) spoke with Administrator Jovita Carranza of the U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA) on a call to urge the SBA to improve its responsiveness and communication to applicants of the Economic Injury Disaster Loan (EIDL) Program. Schneider discussed the need for the estimated 2 million applicants in the EIDL backlog to be provided with an update on their application status, and for the SBA to provide clearer guidance to applicants about the timeline for consideration and the potential size of their loan.

"Yesterday it was reported that U.S. officials were aware more than a year ago of Russian bounties on the lives of our troops, and further that President Trump received written intelligence in February, four months ago.

Last week, we received good news as the Supreme Court ruled to uphold the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) policy. This came in addition to their decision in favor of LGBTQ equality in the workplace. These decisions represent historic victories that shows the true heart of our country and furthers the vision of our founders. I am given new hope that the United States will again be the beacon of democratic values other nations aspire to.
