WASHINGTON, DC – Today, U.S. Representative Brad Schneider (D-IL-10) announced the introduction of the 100% Clean Economy Act of 2019 (H.R. 5221), with more than 150 of his Democratic colleagues. This legislation would focus on a whole-of-government approach to achieving the goal of net-zero carbon-based emissions by 2050.

A new congressional task force, billed as bipartisan but so far dominated by Chicago-area Democrats, has been formed to pressure the Environmental Protection Agency to update its ethylene oxide regulations.

Ethylene oxide came under sharp scrutiny last year after Chicago Tribune investigations revealed that three Chicago area plants were emitting the chemical into the air, years after the EPA changed its designation from probable carcinogen to known.

Today, Congressman Brad Schneider (D-IL) introduced legislation to support technologies that convert industrial wasted heat to electric power. Expanding the use of waste heat to power technology would reduce emissions, save energy, and grow jobs throughout the country.

H.R. 5155, The Waste Heat to Power Investment Tax Credit Act would provide a 30 percent investment tax credit for waste heat to power technologies that begin construction before January 1, 2024, phasing down the credit to 26 percent and 22 percent in the subsequent two years.

Today, legislation introduced by Congressman Brad Schneider (D-IL) to help veteran start their own small businesses overwhelmingly passed the House by a vote of 424-1

Schneider introduced H.R. 3537, the Veteran Entrepreneurship Training Act, with Rep. Ross Spano (R-FL) in June 2019. The bipartisan legislation would statutorily authorize for five years the successful Boots to Business (B2B) program that helps transitioning servicemembers start and grow businesses.

Congressman Brad Schneider (IL-10) visited Whitman Elementary School on Tuesday, November 5. Fourth grade students kicked off the visit by leading Congressman Schneider on a walking tour of Whitman. Schneider participated in an interactive Spanish language activity with third grade dual language students and later visited with pre-kindergarten students and their parents, who were at Whitman for Family Engagement Day.
