"The U.S. EPA this week held a public meeting in DuPage County to discuss the increased risk of cancer resulting from exposure to the toxic air pollutant ethylene oxide at the Sterigenics facility. When will the U.S. EPA do its job and hold a public meeting to discuss the EtO exposure facing communities in Lake County? My constituents deserve answers.

"Today, Special Counsel Robert Mueller made crystal clear that his report ‘speaks for itself.' Contrary to the President's claims of exoneration, the Special Counsel reiterated that ‘if we had had confidence that the president clearly did not commit a crime, we would have said so.'

Today, Congressman Brad Schneider (D-IL) announced the House Appropriations Committee included funding for ambient air monitoring of Ethylene Oxide (EtO) during its mark-up of the appropriations bill for the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA). The $5.6 million increase for EPA's compliance monitoring program would support EPA air monitoring for communities identified by the National Air Toxics Assessment (NATA) as facing high levels of EtO emissions, including those in Lake County.

Today, U.S. Representatives Brad Schneider (D-IL) and Elise Stefanik (R-NY) announced the introduction of new bipartisan legislation to improve primary care options for individuals with high-deductible health insurance plans.

 

H.R. 2774, the Primary Care Patient Protection Act of 2019, would create a primary care benefit for all high-deductible health plan (HDHP) holders allowing for up to two deductible-free primary care office visits each year.

Today, Congressman Brad Schneider (IL-10) announced the launch of the 2019-2020 Tenth District STEM Scholars program, an educational opportunity for local high school students to learn about science, technology, education, and math through hands-on learning experiences. This will be the second class of STEM Scholars following the inaugural 2018-2019 class.
