Today, Congressman Brad Schneider (D-IL), a member of the House Ways & Means Committee, urged the Internal Revenue Service (IRS) to investigate the tax-exempt status of the National Rifle Association (NRA) following reports of serious wrongdoing.

In a letter to IRS Commissioner Charles P. Rettig, Schneider cites troubling misconduct uncovered by recent reporting, including allegations of egregious self-dealing, deceptive billing practices, and preferences in contracting.

U.S. Representatives Bryan Steil (R-WI-01) and Brad Schneider (D-IL-10) released a joint statement regarding Friday's explosion at the AB Specialty Silicones factory in Waukegan. Three men from Kenosha County died in the explosion, and one person remains missing. Wisconsin's First Congressional District includes Kenosha County and Waukegan is in Illinois' Tenth Congressional District.

With a growing number of Americans aging into Medicare, Representatives Brad Schneider (D-IL), Raul Ruiz (D-CA), Gus Bilirakis (R-FL), and Jackie Walorski (R-IN) introduced bipartisan legislation to simplify complex Medicare enrollment rules. The Beneficiary Enrollment Notification and Eligibility Simplification (BENES) Act would eliminate needless gaps in health care coverage and help prevent lifetime late-enrollment penalties. Today, almost 760,000 Americans are paying these penalties, increasing their Medicare Part B premiums by an average of 28 percent.

Schneider, Brooks, Kuster, Stefanik Introduce Bipartisan Bill to Train More Doctors to Combat Opioid Epidemic

Today, U.S. Representatives Brad Schneider (D-IL), Susan W. Brooks (R-IN), Annie Kuster (D-NH), and Elise Stefanik (R-NY) introduced bipartisan legislation to train more doctors equipped to combat the opioid epidemic.

H.R. 2439, the Opioid Workforce Act of 2019, would create 1,000 additional residency positions over five years to hospitals with addiction medicine, addiction psychiatry, or pain management programs.

Today, U.S. Representatives Brad Schneider (D-IL), Susan W. Brooks (R-IN), Jennifer Wexton (D-VA), and Brian Fitzpatrick (R-PA) introduced legislation to extend clear and consistent non-discrimination protections for LGBTQ people in housing.

H.R. 2402, the Fair and Equal Housing Act of 2019 would include "sexual orientation" and "gender identity" as protected characteristics under the Fair Housing Act which currently mandates non-discrimination for housing on the basis of race, color, religion, national origin, sex, familial status, or disability.

Congressman Brad Schneider (IL-10) announced the winners of the 2019 Congressional Art Competition in Illinois's Tenth District at a public exhibition at the College of Lake County in Grayslake on the evening of Wednesday, April 24. Forty students from eleven high schools across the district submitted artwork on the theme of "Character."

Today, Congressman Brad Schneider (IL-10) released the below statement following calls with the National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) and Pipeline and Hazardous Materials Safety Administration (PHMSA) regarding the spill of anhydrous ammonia in Beach Park, IL:

"While my first thoughts remain with the individuals hospitalized as a result of this spill, it is critically important that we urgently begin the investigation to determine how this accident occurred and what steps are necessary to prevent similar disasters in the future.
