December 31, 2020

WASHINGTON — Today, the House of Representatives unanimously passed legislation authored by Rep. Brad Schneider (IL-10), Chris Smith (NJ-4), and Eliot Engel (NY-16) that would elevate the State Department's antisemitism Special Envoy position to an Ambassadorship, giving more clout to address the alarming rise in antisemitism worldwide. The House voted overwhelmingly to pass H.R. 221 in January 2019 and the Senate amended and approved the legislation earlier this month. The bill now heads to President Trump's desk to be signed into law.

DEERFIELD, IL — Congressman Brad Schneider (IL-10) issued the following statement after the President signed the bipartisan coronavirus relief bill:

"I am grateful the President has finally decided to sign the bipartisan Covid relief package. It's an essential compromise bill that, though short of what's ultimately needed, provides a down payment on the fight to defeat the virus, provide support for struggling Americans, and move our economy towards recovery and renewal.

DEERFIELD, IL — Today, Congressman Brad Schneider (IL10) announced a $600,000 grant award to the Korean Cultural Center of Chicago. The grant was awarded by the National Endowment for the Humanities (NEH) to fund the Bisco Hall renovation at the Center.

The Korean Cultural Center of Chicago was established to provide a physical facility where everyone in the Midwest can show their interest in and promote Korean heritage.

WASHINGTON— Today, Congressman Brad Schneider (IL-10) announced the introduction of the Default Proceed Sale Transparency Act to address the dangerous loophole that allows some gun sales to be completed without the results of a Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) background check. Reps. Mike Quigley (IL-05), Jimmy Panetta (CA-20), and Ted Deutch (FL-22) are original co-sponsors.

Earlier this year, Schneider received holiday card submissions from Tenth District elementary school students on the theme of "Winter Wonderland."
