Today, Congressman Brad Schneider (IL-10) released the following statement after the Lake County Health Department, Village of Gurnee, and City of Waukegan announced the conclusion of the ethylene oxide (EtO) monitoring program.

On Friday, June 19 at 9:30am CT, Congressman Brad Schneider (IL-10) will join Pastor Arthur Gass of the Black Chamber of Commerce of Lake County and local Black-owned small businesses for a listening session on the challenges facing minority-owned small businesses and discussion of the federal resources available to help during the Covid-19 pandemic.

Congressman Brad Schneider (IL-10­) announced he will host a telephone town hall on Monday to discuss and answer questions related to the coronavirus. This is Schneider's fourth telephone town hall with constituents since the onset of the coronavirus crisis.

Yesterday morning, we received some much needed good news as the Supreme Court ruled in favor of LGBTQ equality in the workplace. The Court affirmed that no one should be fired or discriminated against for who they love or who they are. Our work for LGBTQ equality is far from over, but this is a major victory. Workplace protections were a major component of the Equality Act, which passed the House last year and which I will continue to fight for to ensure LGBTQ Americans have full legal protection in public accommodations, housing, and other areas of public life.

This week, Congressman Brad Schneider (D-IL) and other members of the House Small Business Committee heard the testimony of Dr. Craig Gerstein, a Highland Park resident and local small business owner. At Schneider's invitation, Dr. Gerstein shared his difficult experience with the Small Business Administration's (SBA's) Economic Injury Disaster Loan (EIDL) program.

Today, Congressman Brad Schneider (IL-10) announced the winners of the annual Congressional Art Competition in Illinois's Tenth District. This year, local high school students submitted artwork virtually on the theme of "E Pluribus Unum," or "Out of many, one."

Two experienced art professionals—Amy Amdur, founder of Amdur Productions and Ann Rintz, Curator of Robert T. Wright Community Gallery of Art at the College of Lake County - judged the entries anonymously, without seeing artists' names or schools.

Yesterday George Floyd was laid to rest, two weeks after he was murdered by a Minneapolis police officer. Our country has literally been transformed since his tragic death.

Americans have protested, marched and held vigils in cities, towns and villages across the country—demanding justice and calling for important and dramatic change. I have been privileged to join gatherings in communities in all corners of our district. Many of these events were organized by students. All were peaceful, emotional and inspiring.
