Congressman Brad Schneider today announced an upcoming Senior Forum on Health Care in Grayslake.

Attendees will hear from Rep. Schneider and representatives from area senior organizations, including AARP, Alzheimer's Association Greater Illinois Chapter, Catholic Charities, Family Service of Lake County, and Northeastern Illinois Agency on Aging, about the health care resources these local groups provide for senior citizens.

Congressman Brad Schneider today announced an upcoming Military Service Academy Information Session in Mundelein.

Attendees will hear from representatives from each of the five service academies – the U.S. Air Force Academy, U.S. Coast Guard Academy, U.S. Merchant Marine Academy, U.S. Military Academy (West Point), and U.S. Naval Academy – who speak about their institution and discuss the application and nomination processes.

Today, Congressman Brad Schneider (IL-10) announced that the launch of the 2017 Congressional App Challenge in Illinois Tenth District. Now in its third year, the Congressional App Challenge is an annual nationwide competition that encourages students to learn and use science, technology, engineering and math (STEM) skills by coding their own application or "app" for any digital device.

The winning teams will have their application displayed in the U.S. Capitol in Washington, D.C and featured on Congressman Schneider's website.

Congressman Brad Schneider (IL-10) will host a Health and Wellness Fair on Saturday August 12, 2017 in Round Lake to help connect Tenth District residents with health resources available in our community. Participating organizations will offer free health screenings, physicals, and information on a range of health-related topics. Attendees may also enjoy free Zumba classes, participate in healthy cooking demonstrations, and meet dogs from the Lake County Sheriff's Department K-9 Team. On-site registration will also be available for District 116 students.

"I am profoundly saddened by President Trump's arbitrary ban on transgender people from our nation's military, which dishonors the service and sacrifice of the thousands of transgender troops currently serving our country with distinction and valor. Rather than excluding good people, we should welcome all who volunteer to honorably wear the uniform and are qualified to carry out the duties and responsibilities that entails.

Today, Rep. Brad Schneider (IL-10) introduced legislation aimed at reducing gun violence by preventing the theft of firearms from Federal Firearms Licensees (FFLs), or federally-licensed dealers, manufacturers, and importers.

According to the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF), more than 18,000 firearms were reported stolen or lost in 2016 from FFLs – a year over year increase of 20 percent.
