Today, U.S. Representatives Brad Schneider (D-IL) and Ileana Ros-Lehtinen (R-FL) introduced bipartisan legislation to better protect senior citizens from abuse, fraud, and neglect.
The Senior Citizen Protection Act would create a national registry of elder abusers that accredited health care providers and the public could check before hiring employees who will work with seniors. While some states already have created elder abuse registries, there is currently no nationally-searchable database of the state-level data.
Today, Rep. Brad Schneider (IL-10) joined Rep. Matt Cartwright (PA-17) and Sen. Edward J. Markey (D-MA) to introduce legislation that will help improve America's public health response to climate change by supporting research, monitoring, and preparation in the health sector and by developing a national action plan. Reps. Doris Matsui (CA-06) and Salud Carbajal (CA-24) also joined in introducing the House bill.

Congressman Brad Schneider (IL-10) today announced an upcoming bike ride open to constituents of Illinois Tenth District.
Participants will bike with Congressman Schneider on a 16-mile loop beginning and ending at the Round Lake Beach Metra Station. The group will also stop by Something's Brewing Café in Grayslake for refreshments and a mini-town hall with Schneider, and visit the Round Lake Public Library during the library's 45th anniversary celebration. Non-bikers are invited to join at these two stops.
U.S. Representative Brad Schneider (IL-10) and Illinois State Representative Rita Mayfield (IL-60) today announced an upcoming Job and Resource Fair in North Chicago.

Congressman Brad Schneider (IL-10) yesterday requested the Small Business Administration (SBA) open a Disaster Loan Outreach Center in Lake County, Illinois, as a response to recent the severe flooding. Outreach Centers play an important role helping residents access low-interest loans to businesses, private non-profit organizations, homeowners, and renters, that can be used to repair or replace damaged or destroyed items after a disaster.
