Today, Congressmen Brad Schneider (IL-10) and Bill Johnson (OH-06) led a bipartisan group of 81 members of Congress in a letter to President Trump in advance of his meeting this week with Turkish President Tayyip Erdoğan.

The letter expresses serious concerns about recent democratic backsliding and the erosion of human rights in Turkey, and urges President Trump to prioritize these critical issues during his meeting with President Erdoğan.

Congressmen Brad Schneider (IL-10) and Mike Quigley (IL-05) today convened a roundtable discussion with patients, doctors, advocates and other community leaders to discuss their efforts to address the epidemic of opioid addiction afflicting Illinois and the country.

Schneider and Quigley listened to stories from individuals and family members who have personally felt the toll of opioid abuse, as well as the perspectives of the medical community and local government leaders attempting to respond to the crisis.

"President Trump's abrupt decision to fire FBI Director James Comey amid an ongoing investigation into the President's campaign is deeply troubling and raises many questions about both the prospect for a credible investigation and the future independence of the FBI. The sudden dismissal and the inadequate reasoning offered by the Administration reeks of politically-motivated interference.
