WASHINGTONRepresentatives Brad Schneider (IL-10) and Adriano Espaillat (NY-13) announced the introduction of key legislation to address gun violence in the United States.

The Ghost Guns Are Guns Act would close the "ghost guns" loophole which allows purchasers to avoid federal background checks by buying unassembled firearms online. H.R. 1454 amends Title 18 of the United States Code to include firearm assembly kits in the definition of firearms.

The sun is shining and the temperature is rising…it almost feels like spring. I hope you are able to get outside and enjoy a breath of fresh air.

While I don't have anything to do with the good weather, I do bring good news from Washington: President Biden's American Rescue Plan is moving through Congress. The $1.9 relief bill passed the House last Saturday at 2:05 AM. Assuming the Senate concludes its work this week, the bill should make it to the President's desk before unemployment benefits expire on March 14th.

"The report released today starkly states what we've long suspected: the brutal murder of journalist and American resident Jamal Khashoggi was approved at the highest levels of the Saudi leadership— specifically naming Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman.

WASHINGTON – Congressman Brad Schneider encourages Tenth District students to participate in the annual Congressional Art Competition, which is being held virtually this year due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic. The theme for this year's contest is "Unity."

Area high school students are invited to submit a piece of art they have created in the past year, which will be judged by a panel of local educators and artists. Students are encouraged to interpret the theme of "Unity" creatively and submit artwork that reflects their personal interpretation.

I suspect you are as happy as I am that it's starting to warm up a bit. I've seen two early signs of Spring: training camp has started for both the Cubs and the White Sox, and the robins have returned to my backyard bird feeder. Even better, we are seeing increasing supplies of vaccines, though we continue to need to accelerate getting shots in people's arms.
