WASHINGTON— Friday, Congressman Brad Schneider (IL-10)'s Medicare Sequester COVID Moratorium Act was included in H.R. 1868 as it passed the House. The bipartisan legislation will prevent cuts to hospital payments through the end of 2021.

WASHINGTON – Today Congressman Brad Schneider (IL-10) helped pass H.R. 8, the Bipartisan Background Checks Act and H.R. 1446, the Enhanced Background Checks Act, two commonsense gun violence prevention measures to require background checks on all gun sales and close the Charleston Loophole that allowed the hate crime at Mother Emanuel AME Church. Schneider also helped pass versions of these two bills in a strong, bipartisan way in the 116th Congress.

The big news of the week is that the Senate passed President Biden's American Rescue Plan. Once signed into law, the American Rescue Plan will accelerate and expand the distribution of vaccines, will send direct payments to struggling American families, will extend unemployment insurance through the summer for those without jobs, give help to small businesses, provide resources for school to open and operate safely, and deliver resources to local governments and communities.

DEERFIELD, ILToday, Congressman Schneider joined the Illinois delegation in discuss the local impact of the $1.9 trillion American Rescue Plan the House passed last week.

Schneider discussed the plan's local benefits, including funding for Lake and Cook counties among $13.2 billion set aside for Illinois. Cook County will receive $1 billion and Lake County will receive $136 million in funding.
