Today, legislation introduced by Congressman Brad Schneider (IL-10) to address the threat of domestic terrorism passed the House Judiciary Committee by a vote of 24-2. The Committee's markup and bipartisan vote reports H.R. 5602, the Domestic Terrorism Prevention Act of 2020, out of the House Judiciary Committee.

Today, U.S. Representatives Brad Schneider (D-IL), Jody Hice (R-GA), and Jan Schakowsky (D-IL) introduced bipartisan legislation (H.R. 6062) to address the timely threat of shortages of medical devices, which can be exacerbated by disruptions to the global supply chain.

This threat of shortage is currently growing as many medical device manufactures that the American health care system depend upon have facilities in China where operations have been affected by the ongoing outbreak of coronavirus (COVID-19).

Today, Congressman Brad Schneider (IL-10), a member of the House Ways & Means Committee, released a report detailing self-dealing, corruption, and other actions by the National Rifle Association of America (NRA) that should jeopardize the organization's tax-exempt status.

The report details a pattern of egregious spending by NRA leadership, extensive self-dealing and conflicts of interest, and pervasive efforts to evade transparency and campaign finance law.

Today, Congressman Brad Schneider (D-IL) released the following statement after the U.S. Senate voted against additional witnesses in the impeachment trial of President Donald Trump:

"The American people deserved a fair trial, and today Republicans in the Senate failed them. By blocking additional witnesses and documents from consideration, the President's allies transformed what should have been a trial in pursuit of the truth into a disgraceful cover-up of the President's wrongdoing.

Congressman Brad Schneider (IL-10) today announced that Dr. David Brothman, Social Studies department chair and teacher at North Chicago Community High School, will be his guest at President Trump's State of the Union address, scheduled for Tuesday, February 4, 2020.

Dr. Brothman is a resident of Wheeling. A long-time education leader in the Tenth District, he has worked in teaching and administrative roles within the North Chicago Community Unit School District 187 since 1999. He currently teaches AP Government, AP US History, Civics and Sociology/Psychology.
