Congressman Brad Schneider (IL-10) will host a "Congress on Your Corner" event to answer questions from constituents and brief attendees on his work in Washington on Saturday, October 6 at 10:30am. The event will be held at Highwood Public Library and is open to the public.

This will be Schneider's 28th Congress on Your Corner town hall event since taking office in January 2017.

Bipartisan legislation introduced by U.S. Representatives Brad Schneider (D-IL) and Roger Marshall (R-KS) to help small businesses acquire federal contracts passed the House of Representatives this week by a vote of 392-5.

H.R. 6369, the Expanding Contracting Opportunities for Small Businesses Act, makes improvements to the sole source contracting process for small businesses.

Brad Schneider (D-IL) to help communities with stranded nuclear waste identify available federal resources was signed into law by President Trump as part of H.R. 5895, the Energy and Water, Legislative Branch, and Military Construction and Veterans Affairs Appropriations Act of 2019.

This week, legislative language first introduced by Rep. Brad Schneider (D-IL) to help communities with stranded nuclear waste passed both the House and Senate, and now awaits President Trump's signature to become law.

The measure requires a report by the Department of Energy on existing public and private resources and funding available for municipalities where a nuclear power plant is decommissioned, in the process of decommissioning, or plans to shut down within 3 years.

Today, the House of Representatives voted 393-2 to advance bipartisan legislation to elevate the Special Envoy to Monitor and Combat Anti-Semitism at the U.S. State Department to the rank of Ambassador, and require the President to nominate a Special Envoy within 90 days of enactment. The Special Envoy position is currently vacant and has been so since the start of the Trump Administration.

Today, the House Judiciary Committee unanimously adopted an amendment offered by Congressman Brad Schneider (D-IL) to help ensure veteran entrepreneurs' access to patent protections. The amendment was included as part of H.R. 6758, the Study of Underrepresented Classes Chasing Engineering and Science Success (SUCCESS) Act, which passed out of committee.

Today, Congressman Brad Schneider (D-IL) highlighted just released data that illustrates the negative effects to Tenth District families of President Trump and Congressional Republican's decision to limit the State and Local Tax Deduction to $10,000 in last year's tax reform bill.

The new IRS data shows that in both Lake and Cook County, the SALT deduction was heavily utilized in 2016 and on average families claimed far above the new $10,000 limit.
