Today, Congressman Brad Schneider (D-IL) introduced bipartisan legislation to help small businesses when essential employees or small business owners are called up for service as part of their National Guard or Reservist duties. The bill would improve existing, yet underutilized, Small Business Administration programs offering loans and deferrals to help small businesses meet their obligations during an employee's absence due to military service.

U.S. Representative Brad Schneider (D-IL-10) and U.S. Senator Dick Durbin (D-IL), along with Senator Tammy Duckworth (D-IL) and Representatives Dan Lipinski (D-IL-03) and Bill Foster (D-IL-11), today introduced legislation that would require the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) to revise ethylene oxide (EtO) emissions standards for medical sterilization and chemical facilities, which have been the source of harmful emissions in Illinois. The bill also requires the EPA to notify the public no more than 30 days after it learns that the new standards have been violated.

Congressman Brad Schneider (IL-10) will host a "Congress on Your Corner" event to answer questions from constituents and brief attendees on his work in Washington on Saturday, December 1 at 12:30pm. The event will be held at Rondout Elementary School at 28593 North Bradley Road.

This will be Schneider's 29th Congress on Your Corner town hall event since taking office in January 2017.

U.S. Senators Dick Durbin (D-IL) and Tammy Duckworth (D-IL), along with U.S. Representatives Bill Foster (D-IL-11) and Brad Schneider (D-IL-10), today met with U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) Acting Administrator Andrew Wheeler to discuss cancer risks caused by ethylene oxide (EtO) emissions at Sterigenics Inc. in DuPage County, Illinois and Medline Industries, Inc., and Vantage Specialty Chemicals, Inc., in Lake County, Illinois.

In advance of Veterans Day, Congressman Brad Schneider (IL-10) introduced a resolution honoring the service of American's veterans and celebrating the entrepreneurial spirit of veteran small business owners. Rep. Brian Fitzpatrick (PA-08) co-led the bipartisan resolution. This continues Rep. Schneider's work to help veterans harness their experience in the Armed Forces towards starting their own small business.

U.S. Senators Dick Durbin (D-IL) and Tammy Duckworth (D-IL) and U.S. Representative Brad Schneider (D-IL-10) today, in a letter to the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), requested it perform updated and current air sampling and modeling studies to determine the cancer risks in Lake County, Illinois, caused by ethylene oxide (EtO) emissions at Medline Industries, Inc. and Vantage Specialty Chemicals, Inc.

Congressman Brad Schneider (IL-10), a member of the House Judiciary Committee, released the following statement:


"Time and again, President Trump has worked to undermine the independence of the Justice Department and its investigation into Russian election interference led by Special Counsel Robert Mueller.

"It is critical that the investigation remain under the supervision of Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein. Congress should also take action to protect the Special Counsel from a politically motivated firing.

Today, Congressman Brad Schneider (IL-10) announced four upcoming Medicare Open Enrollment events through Illinois's Tenth Congressional District.

Hosted in partnership with the Illinois Senior Health Insurance Program (SHIP) and North Shore Senior Center, these events are intended to assist area seniors better understand their Medicare options, and help as they compare and select the best Medicare Part D plan for them. This year's Medicare Open Enrollment period begins today, October 15 and ends on December 7, 2018.

This Veterans Day weekend, Congressman Brad Schneider (IL-10) will host a Veterans Breakfast on Friday, November 9, 2018 in at Cristo Rey St. Martin College Prep in Waukegan to honor those in our community who served our country. Schneider will also share some of the ways his office and local veteran organizations can be of assistance.

This event is free and open to all veterans who are residents of Illinois' Tenth Congressional District. Attendees should RSVP at schneider.house.gov/events.
