Today, Congressman Brad Schneider announced legislation he will introduce to ensure critical LGBTQ resources are not blocked at public schools and libraries.
Currently, public schools and libraries that receive discounted telecommunications and internet rates through the Federal Communication Commission (FCC) E-Rate program must enforce an internet safety policy that in some cases leads to the blocking of useful LGBTQ resources.

"President Trump couldn't pass his health care bill through Congress, so now he's taking his frustration out on the American people by undermining the Affordable Care Act through executive order.
"This is playing politics with Americans' health care. The policies announced today have the potential to collapse the individual markets and raise costs across the country.
Today, Reps. Brad Schneider (D-IL), Norma J. Torres (D-CA), and Eliot L. Engel (D-NY) introduced the Multiple Firearm Sales Reporting Modernization Act. If approved by Congress and passed into law, the bill would require a federal firearms licensee to report the sale of two or more long guns, including semi-automatic rifles such as the AR-15 and the AK-47, within a five-day period.

Today, U.S. Representative Brad Schneider (IL-10) and seven members of the Illinois congressional delegation urged the preservation of the state and local tax (SALT) deduction in any proposed federal tax reform.
In a letter to Chairman Kevin Brady of the House Committee on Ways and Means, the members of Congress write, "Imposing a federal tax on income paid to state and local governments is double taxation, plain and simple. Furthermore, eliminating this long-standing deduction would disproportionately harm taxpayers across the income spectrum in high-tax states."
