Today, the House of Representatives voted 410-1 to advance bipartisan legislation to elevate the Special Envoy to Monitor and Combat Anti-Semitism at the U.S. State Department to the rank of Ambassador, and require the President to nominate a Special Envoy within 90 days of enactment. The Special Envoy position is currently vacant and has been so since the start of the Trump Administration.

Today, Congressman Brad Schneider (IL-10) was appointed as a member of the House Committee on Ways & Means for the 116^th Congress.

The Committee on Ways & Means is the oldest committee of the United States Congress. As the chief tax-writing committee in the House of Representatives, it exercises broad jurisdiction over health care, Social Security, Medicare, pensions, trade and other issues.

"It is disappointing that President Trump chose to use his first Oval Office address to the nation to double down on his irresponsible demands for an ineffective border wall and prolong a damaging government shutdown.

Congressman Brad Schneider (IL-10) will host a "Congress on Your Corner" event to answer questions from constituents and brief attendees on his work in Washington on Saturday, January 12 at 10:00am. The event will be held at Glenview Village Hall and is open to the public.

This will be Schneider's fist Congress on Your Corner town hall of the new year and new Congress. Last term, he held more than 29 public town hall events.

Today, Congressman Schneider announced his support for H.R. 1, The For The People Act, a major government reform package that contains a provision initially introduced last Congress by Schneider that strengthens ethics rules to help close the revolving door between corporate lobbyists and the agencies that oversee their industries.

Following his swearing in this week as U.S. Representative for the 116^th Congress, Congressman Brad Schneider will host New Year Open Houses at all three of his district offices in Lincolnshire, Round Lake Park, and Waukegan this Monday, January 7.
