July 26, 2018

Today, Congressman Schneider led all 18 House members of the Illinois congressional delegation in a letter urging federal action to improve the state's election security. In a letter to Attorney General Jeff Sessions and Secretary of Homeland Security Kristjen Nielsen, the Members requested a briefing on federal efforts to partner with Illinois election officials to defend against foreign interference.

Congressman Brad Schneider (IL-10) will host a "Congress on Your Corner" event to answer questions from constituents and brief attendees on his work in Washington on Saturday, July 28 at 11:00am. The event will be held at the Village Hall in Bannockburn and is open to the public.

This will be Schneider's 26th Congress on Your Corner town hall event since taking office in January 2017.

This week, legislation supported by Congressman Brad Schneider (IL-10) to help startups access capital and grow passed the House of Representatives.

The Helping Angels Lead Our Startups (HALOS) Act removes burdensome and unnecessary rules that prevent startup entrepreneurs from connecting with potential investors at "pitch" or "demo" days.

The event will feature participation from more than 45 area employers, which are listed at end of release, as well as the Job Center of Lake County and Illinois Department of Employment Security. Attendees may browse and research available job openings prior to the event online here.

H.R. 6369, the Expanding Contracting Opportunities for Small Businesses Act, makes improvements to the sole source contracting process for small businesses.

Today, two amendments offered by Congressman Brad Schneider (IL-10) were included in H.R. 6237 – Matthew Young Pollard Intelligence Authorization Act for Fiscal Years 2018 and 2019.

The first Schneider Amendment expands a new public election security report from the intelligence community to require a list of foreign state or foreign nonstate actors involved in the threats to election campaigns for Federal offices. The amendment will help inform the public of those responsible for election interference.
