Vicente González (TX-15), Rep. Fred Upton (MI-06), Rep. Lou Correa (CA-46), and Senator Dick Durbin (D-IL) announced the introduction of the Domestic Terrorism Prevention Act (DTPA) of 2021, H.R. 350. A Senate companion bill is led by Sen. Dick Durbin (D-IL).

WASHINGTON — On Wednesday, The President of the United States signed into law legislation authored by Rep. Brad Schneider (IL-10), Chris Smith (NJ-4), and Eliot Engel (NY-16) that would elevate the State Department's Special Envoy to Monitor and Combat Antisemitism to an Ambassadorship, giving more clout to address the alarming rise in antisemitism worldwide. The House voted overwhelmingly to pass H.R. 221 in January 2019 and the Senate amended and approved the legislation in December 2020.

Yesterday, a violent mob attacked the U.S. Capitol Building while Congress met to certify President-Elect Joe Biden's win. I was in the House gallery, watching proceedings from above, when I was first instructed to shelter in place, then evacuate, then take cover as a riotous mob tried to break into the chamber. My colleagues and I experienced the unthinkable as we watched the angry hoard breach multiple layers of security and storm the Capitol building all around us.
